Tom was born in St. Cloud, Minn. In eighth grade he met the first person who would deeply affect him and later become his best friend. Both boys were passionate about hockey, but Tom's friend was in it till the end. So, from that point on, Tom was determined to find something that would spark his interest just as much.
His fitness journey started with working out. It made sense to Tom and made him feel great. He started lifting with his best friend the summer after eighth grade. Throughout high school he dabbled in all sports but never found that deep connection with any particular one, until the summer after his senior year, when he took a karate class. It was his next true passion. Tom achieved a second-degree black belt and was a seven-time national fighting champion in Tang Soo Do Moo Duk Kwon. He also achieved a purple belt in Kenpo Karate. Tom knew that all he needed to do was connect with something, understand it and the rest was history. Those two passions-martial arts and weight lifting-got him through college, where he received a B.A. in finance.
After college, Tom did what most people do: He got a "real" job and started "adulthood." After two years, Tom decided there had to be more to life than a 9-to-5 job, so he moved to Las Vegas.
"I wasn’t aware of it at first, but I was there for a reason and soon would realize the reason. I continued to lift and kick, but opportunities arose for me in modeling and acting. I didn’t question anything. I knew I was starting on a new path and would walk by faith and not by sight."
Soon after his move to Las Vegas, Tom got into acting, modeling and performing in the "King Arthur’s Tournament" at the Excalibur Hotel. A guy with a finance degree and Midwestern, Catholic parents was riding a horse, sword fighting, jousting, growing his hair and as he said, "simply loving it!"
It wasn't long before Tom found his third passion, acting. He soon realized he needed to be in Los Angeles. Right after this realization and prior to moving,Tom entered a series of difficult episodes in his life. He went through a marriage, suicide, adultery, divorce, loneliness, isolation and fear. It was these life tests that inevitably made him a better actor. During this painful period, he asked himself some tough questions, like "What was I most afraid to do?" The answer: "Sell my house and move to L.A." Three months later, he moved.
Tom is very happy with his success and does not regret anything that has happened. He is comfortable with who he is and has realized that all his experiences have helped guide and shape him into the man he is today.
"I am proud to be a Christian, a husband, a father, a son, a brother, an instructor, a trainer, a friend and, most of all, an actor…yes, an actor!"
Tom says that momentum is tangible, and he feels that he is on a positive wave. Tom left Minnesota 14 years ago, and since then, he has overcome, persevered, and passed all of life’s tests that were laid down before him. Because of his success at conquering so many challenges and opportunities, he has never been as happy, peaceful and blessed as he is right now!
"Keep doing what you’re doing and you’ll keep getting what you're getting," Tom says. In his view, truer words were never spoken! One has to discover who they are and then believe in that. Know what makes you passionate. Like lifting and kicking, Tom became passionate about acting and truly believed he was on the right path. As a result, he's building a career for himself that he's proud of, and he hopes to motivate his clients and audiences everywhere to own their destiny as well!
