When they first met, Alison and Pat did not like each other very much. He was her supervisor at the liquor store where she was working during breaks from college and, to hear Alison tell it, they spent more time arguing than working.
When Alison returned to the store at the end of the school year, things had changed. They had forgotten how much they disliked each other and began hanging out in a larger group with people from the store. After a while, it began to be just Pat and Alison going out to watch sports and he eventually asked her out on a real date. Ever since, it's been full steam ahead.
Alison has always been motivated to lose weight, but having a wedding in her near future helped to inspire her further.
