Meet the Brides
Buff Brides: The Experience

So, what did Alison really think about the Buff Brides experience? We asked her! Find out what she liked and disliked about the program and check out how much weight she lost!

Alison's Final Stats
Height: 5'9"
Weight: 178 lbs. (from 197 lbs.)
Dress size: 10 to 12 (from 14)
Total Pounds Lost: 19 lbs.

Q: What was your diet and exercise regimen during your Buff Brides experience?
A: Five days a week in the gym — three with the trainer, two on my own. I did weights and cardio. And I followed the Zone Gourmet diet.

Q: What was your favorite part of the experience?
A: There are so many parts of the experience that I enjoyed. I loved having a trainer help guide me in shaping my body the way that I wanted to it to be shaped.

I loved being on the Zone and having my meals delivered to me. I never had to think about what I was eating.

I loved the community and support I had at the gym. The people there became a second family to me. I used to call my trainer my "gym husband" because we spent so much time together, bickered like an old married couple and made up at the end of the day.

Q: What was your least favorite part of the experience?
A: Being caught on tape on an "off" day. Now I know how celebrities feel. You just can't always be fun and charming, even if there is a camera in your face.

But on a positive note, that's what makes the experience real for the brides out there watching the show. Every day is not going to be a great, energetic day. There will be days when you're in a bad mood, don't feel like going to the gym, or you feel frustrated with the results you're getting. However, you just have to keep plugging away.

Q: Who was your biggest cheerleader?
A: Of course, Joe was. He was there rooting for me every day. On the days I didn't want to get up in the morning, he was the one that encouraged me to go. He was the one who would remind me of how good I looked and how my hard work was paying off. I was lucky though — I had a whole cheering section made up of my family, friends, co-workers and the staff at the gym. That made a huge difference.

Q: Do you think you'd have been as happy on your wedding day if you hadn't lost the weight?
A: Of course I'd be happy, but I would feel very self-conscious about how I looked in my gown.

Q: What would you have done differently in regard to the program?
A: I would have had more fun with it. I was really hard on myself. I also would have liked to do this in six months, instead of four.

Q: What would you have done differently in regard to the wedding?
A: Nothing. It was PERFECT!
