Q: What was your diet and exercise regimen during your Buff Brides experience?
A: During Buff Brides my diet was very similar to what it was before the program except I exercised extreme portion control. I cut everything in half except for vegetables. I did my best to fill up on salads and water before a meal and then ate only half of my entree. I went to restaurants and ordered specially made meals with little butter or fat and asked for half orders. I cut out all alcohol until the very end when I started incorporating it back on the weekends and I also cut out all drinkable caffeine, such as coffee and soda.
Exercise during Buff Brides consisted of meeting with my personal trainer, Rich (who was crazy but GREAT) three times a week for strength training. We worked all of my muscles in so many different and creative ways that it was impossible to get bored. On my off days from him I did cardio. I walked or ran or used the treadmill at work. Sometimes I would take my bike out if the day was nice or I would walk during my lunch hour. I didn't have a lot of time. I had just started a new job and was planning my dream wedding so exercise came down to fitting it in when I could ... but I always did!
Q: What was your favorite part of the experience?
A: I would have to say my favorite part of the experience, besides losing the weight, was meeting new people and also being able to go shopping for new clothes. I met all these great people through NYSC (New York Sports Club), Pangolin Pictures and Discovery Health Channel that really made me feel good about myself whether I lost five pounds or 25 pounds. That and, of course, the weight loss made it all worth it!
Q: What was your least favorite part of the experience?
A: Hmm ... my least favorite part. That is actually kind of tough. I think sometimes the exercise itself was the toughest, but most days it wasn't bad at all and made me feel better. I would have to say giving up a lot of my privacy because of the cameras being there was tough. There were some days (not too many) that I felt like I just wanted to boot the cameras out of wherever we happened to be. I knew from the beginning that it would be an invasion of my privacy and I was OK with that, but I guess with all of the other stress at that point it got to be difficult. But I wouldn't say that there was anything that occurred that would've ever made me change my decision to do this.
