We met on the Internet at Match.com. I e-mailed him first and we've been loving each other ever since. Kwyne elaborates: While on a trip to Philly she asked, "What are we calling this?" After regaining control of the car, I mumbled something to her. I mean, come on, she brought that out of left field. But I realized that she was the one I was waiting for, so I snatched her up. Less than one day later I broke up with her, so she says. I just wanted her to be sure she knew what she was asking for. You know the old saying "be careful what you wish for"? Well, as you might have figured out, I said I would be all hers.
Now, let me (Erika) tell you the real story. We did meet online. On our first date, which was June 6, 2002, I didn't want to get dressed up. I wanted him to see me for who I really am. I wore jeans and a T-shirt, threw my hair in a ponytail, and stepped out the door. No makeup, no little black dress, no new hairdo ... just me. My grandmother always told me, "If the first time a man sees you and you are not looking your best and he still likes you, it won't get any better than that." Go, Grandma! I suggested we play pool, something we could keep busy doing if we didn't hit it off.
Well, we had so much fun laughing and carrying on. It took us three hours to play one full game. Initially, we were supposed to end the date after the pool game because it was a "school night." But we ended up hanging out at T.G.I.Fridays for another couple of hours. He tried playing hard to get for a couple of days after that first date, but I knew he was feeling what I was feeling. I could tell by the way he looked at me and the way he hugged me goodbye. He didn't want the night to end! And I knew he was the one that night. He is so down to earth, he makes me laugh, and I might add, he is fine.
