The Proposal
We were engaged Oct. 25, 2002. Talk about jumping the gun! And no, it wasn't a shotgun. Kwyne proposed one night after an "energized discussion." That is his term. I call it a knock-out fight. Kwyne had this sudden urge to discuss our future "right now." We had discussed getting married in a year or so, but I didn't know he was planning to propose on Thanksgiving, which also happened to be my birthday. After venting and venting and venting some more (both of us), we finally calmed down and Kwyne was holding my hand. He slipped the ring on my finger and asked me, "Do you still want to marry me?" I was totally confused because of the five-round shouting match we had just put on. I asked him if he was asking me to marry him. He replied, "Yes," and I said, "Of course, Mr. Pugh." The rest is history, or as we like to say "ourstory." He had already spoken with my parents and his mother to receive their approval. How romantic is that?!
About the Ring
One word: beautiful. I'm not really into cut, clarity and color, but my husband did his homework. I can blind you whether the sun is shining or not.
The Date:
Erika and Kwyne were married on Oct. 4, 2003.
About the Dress
The dress is a strapless, size 10 Oleg Cassini. The top is fitted and seamless with crystals circling the hip area, and it has a ballroom-style skirt. Plus, I wore crinoline underneath to make it even poofier. I purchased the gown from a discount store. One thing I have learned: more expensive does not mean better. My gown is beautiful. You would never believe it came from a discount retailer.
