The Proposal
At the end of March 2002, two years after we met, Hardy popped the question. I knew something was coming because Hardy started asking me questions such as "Does there have to be a ring when I propose?" One afternoon, after we had just come back from a run together, we were relaxing in the bedroom. Hardy rolled over, looked me in the eye and said, "Will you be my wife?" At first, I wasn't sure if that was "the" question. But as he waited for a response, I realized he must love me to propose to me when I probably looked and smelled my worst. So I said, "Yes!"
About the Ring
Hardy waited to get the ring until I could help pick it out. He actually had his heart set on a Tiffany's ring. We looked around at a few places and found a simple solitaire setting we really liked at a local store. When the lady described the setting similar to a tulip, the national flower of Holland my husband's country we knew it was the right one.
The Date
We got married on June 7, 2003. We chose June because that's the month that we met.
About the Dress
I picked out a dress made by Jasmine. At first, I wasn't going to try it on because it had blue accents and I had already chosen my wedding color to be purple. But as soon as I tried the dress on, I fell in love with it. I couldn't stop looking at it. It was so flattering to my figure. So, I changed my wedding colors to go with the dress.
As far as size, I didn't want to put too much pressure on myself to lose weight before the wedding. So, I ordered the dress slightly bigger than the size I was at the time.
