We met in October of 1994 at the Raritan Center Exposition Hall during an Indian festival called Navratri. I was 16 at the time, only a junior in high school, and he was 19.
He approached me while I was standing by one of the entertainment booths enjoying the craze of the crowd and the Indian dance music. He came up to me and asked me the oldest line in the book, "Do I know you from somewhere?" I didn't pay him much attention and said "no" in a polite but firm manner. Missing the hint, he was still very persistent and continued to ask me more questions like, "Where are you from?" "Where do you go to school?" "How old are you?" etc. I entertained his questions because I did not want to be rude, and we ended up conversing the entire night.
Looking back at that night we both agree that we instantly clicked. I saw him again the next day at Raritan Center and we spent all of our time together. He then gave me his phone number because I was not allowed to have boys call my house, and I called him two days later. We saw each other again the following week at Raritan Center and started dating. Now, almost nine years later, here we are! He has been my one and only.
