The Proposal
David and I met accidentally through a mutual acquaintance. Our first date was May 6, 2000. I knew he was "the one" when I drove him home on our first date. I almost got into a car accident while driving him home and he still called me for a second date!
Our proposal story is way too long to explain, but in a nutshell, David told me that we were meeting friends for dinner on a Friday night. He arranged for me to meet him at the store where we had first met, and while there, we saw our mutual friend and she gave me a sample of skin cream to try (she owns a skin-care company).
When we got to the restaurant, our friends hadn't "shown up' yet and we were seated at our table. The maitre'd stopped by to tell us that our friends were running late and that we should order without them. Since I was superhungry, I opened the menu right away and started looking at dinner options. David then asked me if I wanted to try the skin cream that our friend gave me (it was supposed to be a new product that had a capsule of "active ingredients" in it that you were supposed to mix up yourself). After continuously asking me to try the cream, I was frustrated and still superhungry so I finally said, "If you want to try it so bad, why don't you open it!" And so he did.
After digging through the jar trying to find the "capsule" (which was not conveniently placed on top of the cream but submerged in it) and getting face cream all over his fork, knife and the table, he finally pulled out this foil packet (the infamous capsule). He handed it to me and said that his hands were too greasy and asked that I open it for him. STILL hungry and getting increasingly frustrated, I huffily took the packet and started to open it, only to find that it was no "active ingredient" capsule, but a big, fat ring. Oh yeah, and I said, "Yes."
About the Ring
David presented Margaret with a brilliant, round-cut solitaire set in a four-prong platinum knife-edge band.
The Date
We were married July 5, 2003 in Honolulu, Hawaii.
About the Dress:
My dress was a Vera Wang strapless silk organza trumpet gown (in a size 14 ... Yikes!).
