Nathan and I met during the summer of 2001. I was beginning my final year of medical school. Nathan was beginning his final year of undergraduate studies. I had been driving my father's Mercury Cougar, which was notorious for its numerous breakdowns. On the day that Nathan and I met, the Cougar decided to give me trouble once again. I had just gotten off call and was pretty tired. Right as I pulled into my apartment complex the car sputtered and came to a complete stop. I called my brother Sean for assistance, but he was at work. He told me that he would send his friend Corey to help. Corey came and we tried to fix the car to no avail.
Since it was dinner time and I was tired from being on call, I asked if Corey could drive me to get something to eat. He told me that he was planning to meet his friend Nathan for dinner, but that I was welcome to come along. Thankfully, I accepted. We met at a Thai restaurant in the plaza right next to my parent's subdivision. I immediately thought that Nathan was cute, charismatic and very attractive. However, throughout the meal, Nathan talked about moving to Ohio to finish school. So I assumed that I would never see him again. As we prepared to leave the restaurant, our waitress came to us and began telling us our fortunes. She foretold that Nathan and I would one day marry. I remember we both kind of laughed at that. A few months later, Nathan asked me out to dinner and the rest, as they say, is history.
