Sue Fleming, author of Buff Brides: The Complete Guide to Getting in Shape and Looking Great for Your Wedding Day (Villard, 2002), came up with the idea for the popular book when brides-to-be began to hire her as a personal trainer. In the book, she provides fun and easy in-home workouts for women who can't afford the luxury of a trainer.
Fleming earned her B.S. in physical education at Davis and Elkins College and her M.S. at Canisius College. She began her career in physical education at the Brearley School in Manhattan in 1989, where she worked for seven years. After leaving the Brearley School, Fleming worked at the Greenvale School in Long Island for three years, and since September 2000 has been the director of physical education at Riverdale Country School in New York.
Fleming began working as a personal trainer 10 years ago, and continues to work with private clients, many of whom are brides-to-be. Her next book, Buff Moms-to-Be: The Complete Guide to Fitness for Expectant and New Mothers, is scheduled for publication in December 2003. Fleming resides in Manhattan.
