Mark is not only a certified personal trainer, but comes loaded with education and experience that underscores his commitment to the health and fitness field. He has a Masters in exercise physiology from San Francisco State University and a BS in exercise and sports science from the University of Georgia. Mark first worked in the physical therapy field as an exercise physiologist.

Mark has been a personal trainer for 10 years, developing exercise programs for people of all ages, sizes, shapes, skills, health limitations and goals. He works with clients at various gyms, as well as in their homes.

Mark stays in shape pursuing his passion for surfing and chasing around his 4-year-old son and newborn baby girl. His own busy life has given Mark a real understanding for all things practical, including how to fit exercise into our busy lives.

Shaman DeArco
Personal Trainer

Shaman came to personal training and fitness as an extension of his experience in martial arts and as an athlete. At the age of 5, his father — a third-degree black belt and instructor — began working with his son in martial arts. Shaman eventually competed in kickboxing and is certified as an instructor.

As a teenager, Shaman qualified for the Junior Olympics, representing the United States among 11,000 elite athletes from around the world. He won a bronze medal in the 2-mile relay.

Shaman first entered the fitness field as a professional from the equipment side, managing a major athletic retail store that sold a variety of home gym products. He moved on to get his personal training certification and began to build a client roster, while keeping close to the business side as an assistant manager of World Gym, International.

When not hanging with his 7-year-old daughter, Shaman is "Mr. Gadget." From computers (he's beyond wired) to his motorcycle, if it can be "tricked out," Shaman will tinker with it. He's the quintessential "McGuyver" — and with his personal training and equipment knowledge, the perfect side Housecalls sidekick for Mark!
