Kate Potter has passionately devoted herself to yoga since she was 10 years old. Her unwavering commitment and focus have earned Kate an extensive and growing reputation as an innovative and inspirational hatha yoga teacher. Her extensive training includes studies in India with renowned Vedantic scholar Swami Chinmayananda and the faculty of yogic studies at the University of Mysore. She has completed advanced studies with prominent American teachers Rodney Yee, Richard Miller, Georg Feuerstein, Kali Ray and Mukunda Stiles, and is a certified yoga teacher and yoga therapist. Her current teacher and main influence is Norman Fisher, a Zen priest, and founder of the Everyday Zen Foundation.
Kate maintains a private yoga therapy practice in Vancouver, British Columbia. Her clients have included many prominent visitors to the city, such as Charlize Theron who hired Kate as her personal yoga teacher while she was filming on the West Coast. Kate offers public, private and corporate yoga classes throughout the Lower Mainland, as well as periodic Canadian and international yoga retreats. Kate has regularly contributed articles on yoga, anatomy, Ayurveda and ethics to periodicals such as Common Ground and the newsletter of the Yoga Association of British Columbia (YABC). Also, she is the in-house yoga teacher to corporations such as Ballard Power and Business Objects.
The Toronto Dominion Bank has commissioned Kate to give daily hatha yoga sessions to 50 of their top executives at their national convention. In addition, Kate is currently conducting a yearlong Canadian yoga teacher training program to a group of experienced students and teachers in Vancouver.
